SCULPTURE

Adam & Eve in the Garden of Eden

The traditional folk art structure of the Mexican Arbol de La Vida sets the stage for my scenes from "The Life and Times of Adam & Eve". Layers of glaze, painted patterns, sculpted floral and garden elements transform familiar armatures into my own language of animated gardens wherein my figures reveal their stories. The juxtaposition of elaborate decorative detail sharpens the interpretation of Eden as Eve's territory. And thus, this series has become Eve's journey. It continues.

History Wall Platters of Adam & Eve in the Garden of Eden

The Italian tradition of large majolica narrative platters based on master etchings began in the Renaissance. These are my own, using the traditional majolica painting technique. They hang on a wall, or rest on an easel.
